Dr Grondel’s Training
We are pleased to introduce R. Jeffrey Grondel, MD, who is board certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.
Because of Dr. Grondel’s sports medicine fellowship, he is expertly trained to care for the needs of all community members and athletes. In addition to the general orthopedist’s procedures, he specializes in minimally invasive shoulder, knee, and elbow arthroscopy and performs life-changing surgeries with significantly decreased healing times. He brings to Eastern Idaho many state-of-the-art procedures such as new and innovative shoulder and knee surgery techniques. Such procedures help patients continue their active lifestyles and preserve their native anatomy and function, promoting overall joint health. In addition to treating on-the-field injuries that keep athletes sidelined, he also treats the nagging injuries and pain many suffer from simply living life. As a trusted orthopedist, Dr. Grondel works closely with every patient to provide individualized care to restore function.
A graduate of Brigham Young University, Dr. Grondel received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City in 1988. After medical school, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University, a fellowship in orthopedic trauma surgery at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon, and a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center.
Dr. Grondel is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Academy of Sports Medicine.
After completing his sports medicine and shoulder fellowship, Dr. Grondel practiced in southern Nevada, where he continued pioneering arthroscopic shoulder surgical techniques. His surgical specialties include advanced treatment of shoulder injuries with arthroscopic repair of rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability, biceps injuries, and advanced knee treatments with knee arthroscopy for various knee injuries. Dr. Grondel performs total knee replacement including custom knee replacement and robotic joint replacement. He provides other state-of-the-art surgical and nonsurgical treatments for most orthopedic conditions, including cartilage replacement surgery.
Dr. Grondel listens to each of his patients’ questions and concerns, offering detailed answers. He plans personalized solutions to address rotator cuff injuries, elbow injuries, knee injuries, and all orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Grondel has moved to eastern Idaho to be closer to his family. When he is not practicing medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and their adventures. His hobbies include glass-blowing, following German soccer, and traveling.
